Special Needs

General Information
Guests must be medically and physically fit for travel and such travel will not endanger their wellbeing or the wellbeing of others. Our personnel are not required to perform personal tasks (e.g. assisting with eating, dressing, toileting, or lifting), therefore, clients who require assistance with these functions should consider these needs when making a booking.

While we do not require information aboutthe guest's disability, the more information you can share with us about your  specific needs, the better we will be able to assist your client. We encourage you to notify us of your  needs at the time of booking, however to guarantee availability of specific equipment or services, please provide:
  • 60 days advance notice for sign language interpreting services
  • 30 days advance notice for special equipment or services

You must provide 72 hours advance notice if you are traveling with a group of 10 or more guests with disabilities.

Please contact our Access Department in writing via fax at 954-628-9622 or via e-mail at special_needs@rccl.com.

For further assistance, guests may ask for a Complaint Resolution Official (CRO). Our CROs have been trained and are aware of applicable U.S. Department of Transportation disability regulations as well as our polices and procedures. They will be glad to respond to your concerns. The CROs are available at all U.S. ports of departure and on all of our ships.

Royal Caribbean International does not provide wheelchairs. However, we do provide wheelchair assistance during boarding and departure. If you require a wheelchair for the duration of his or her cruise vacation, you may bring their own wheelchair or rent one from one of the companies below who will deliver it to your stateroom on the ship:

  • CareVacations - 877-478-7827
  • Special Needs at Sea - 800-513-4515

Hearing and Visual Disabilities
Royal Caribbean International can make special arrangements for guests who have hearing or visual disabilities. Please contact the Access Department for details and necessary requirements or fax (954) 628-9622 or e-mail special_needs@rccl.com.

Accessible Staterooms
All ships have accessible staterooms available in different categories which are designed for guests with mobility disabilities and other disabilities that require the use of the accessible features of the staterooms. Accessible staterooms are held for people with disabilities until all other non-accessible staterooms in that category are reserved. Upon reserving an accessible stateroom, we require all guests to acknowledge in writing the need for an accessible stateroom by completing a Guest Special Needs Form. This form may be filled out on-line at www.royalcaribbean.com/specialneedsform or click here. Guests without a disability booked in an accessible stateroom may be moved at any time to accommodate a guest with a disability. To inquire about a wheelchair accessible stateroom, please contact our Access Department in writing, via fax at 954-628-9622 or e-mail at special_needs@rccl.com.
Sign language interpreting services will be provided upon request for deaf guests who use American Sign Language (ASL) as their primary means of communication. Sign language interpreting services are provided for main production shows, port and shopping presentations and other major activities on a shared basis for all deaf guests onboard. A request for sign language interpreting services should be made with the Access Department no later than 60 days prior to sailing. Requests are subject to availability of interpreters. Sign language interpreting services are provided on cruises that depart from and/or return to the U.S. and Canada.

Guests dependent on oxygen or requiring oxygen therapy may travel on board; however, they must supply their own oxygen and the Access Department must be advised.

Accessible transportation can be arranged by Royal Caribbean for guests who are unable to board our buses. This service is offered at no extra charge to our Air Arrangements guests or those who have purchased ground transfers. Accessible transportation may be limited or not available outside the U.S.

Requests for transportation for guests with special needs must be faxed to Royal Caribbean' Access Department, on travel agency letterhead, at least 21 days prior to sailing (60 days prior for Europe and South America).

Dietary Accommodations
Royal Caribbean can accommodate a variety of dietary needs if requested in advance. (Not all special diets can be met.)
